Many supplementary reading books published for grades one and two contain all the letters. This makes it difficult for children to read without the support of their parents or teachers. However, since this series of books presents words without letters step by step, it provides a great support for building a child’s reading habit.

Sinhala characters have been printed according to the guidelines for writing Sinhala characters compiled by the National Education Commission.

The letters have been revised according to the Sinhala color scheme of the new 2016 Grade 1 syllabus.

• Short vowels are used at the beginning, middle, and end of words. Some words have 2 short vowels. Once the child has learned the short vowels well, encouraging the child to pronounce the words mentioned in this book with and without short vowels will help the child understand and absorb the difference better.
