Since most supplementary reading books published for the first and second grades contain all the syllabic content, there is little opportunity for the child to read without the support of parents or teachers. However, since this series of books presents syllabic words from the beginning to the end, it provides a great support for building the child’s reading habit.

* Sinhala characters have been printed according to the guidelines for writing Sinhala characters compiled by the National Education Commission.

The letters have been revised according to the Sinhala color scheme in the new 2016 Grade 1 syllabus.

Words with a halve (flag / rope) are included. A guide is also provided to read the halve with the previously identified halve. Once the child has identified the halve well, encouraging the child to pronounce the words mentioned in this book with and without halve will help the child understand and absorb the difference.
